Asthma Camp

Each year, severely asthmatic children learn life-long skills to cope with their condition at Asthma Camp. The six-day residence summer camp hosts children ages 8-12 from across the state. Each child is selected based on his or her medical need.

Children learn about asthma, their triggers, early warning signs, how to use their medicines correctly and how to monitor their breathing with a peak flow meter. They learn that they are not alone in living with asthma and that there are many things they can do to help themselves. They also enjoy normal camp activities, such as canoeing, hiking, field sports, adventure courses, swimming, fishing and crafts.

For many of these children, Asthma Camp is a life changing experience. Camp is free to kids and their families through donations from friends and companies across Arkansas.

"Thank you so much. Without this camp many children would never have a summer camp experience. We wouldn't have allowed Lynn to attend any other camp, but due to the professional staff, location and modern facilities, we felt comfortable leaving him." -

"Thank you for allowing me to go to Asthma Camp. I had a great time and learned a lot about how to control my asthma. Going to that camp taught me a lot that will be useful for the rest of my life."
